Solar hybrid for homes: what a Kivo system runs and what it costs

Specifications and prices checked: 19 October 2026

A Kivo hybrid solar inverter runs your home on solar panels, a battery and the grid together, and keeps it running in a power cut. The four Kivo models carry 3.6 kW to 12 kW of load at once and cost ₹73,000 to ₹2,78,000 for the inverter; panels, battery and installation are extra.

Kivo Ultra12.0 kW24 kVA48 V15,000 W (two solar inputs)₹2,78,000

Prices as listed on the Truepower Shop on 19 October 2026. All four have pure sine wave output, MPPT solar charging, a lithium or lead-acid battery, generator input, two AC outputs, an LCD display and optional WiFi monitoring. Warranty: 5 to 10 years depending on model.

What each model can run

The rated output is the most your appliances can draw at the same moment. The surge figure covers the few seconds when a motor starts (AC compressor, fridge, water pump). Typical running loads: LED light 10 W, ceiling fan 75 W, TV 100 W, fridge 150 to 250 W, router and laptop about 80 W, 1 HP water pump about 750 W, 1.5-ton inverter AC 1.2 to 1.8 kW.

ModelExample home load that fits
Kivo Plus (3.6 kW)10 LED lights, 6 fans, TV, fridge, router and one 1.5-ton AC: about 2.5 kW
Kivo Pro (5.0 kW)The same plus a second 1.5-ton AC: about 4 kW
Kivo Max (6.5 kW)The base load plus three 1.5-ton ACs: about 5.5 kW
Kivo Ultra (12.0 kW)The base load plus five 1.5-ton ACs, a water pump and a microwave: about 10.5 kW

Base load = lights, fans, TV, fridge and router: about 1 kW. ACs are counted at 1.5 kW each. Start large motors one at a time. Check the labels on your own appliances: these are examples, not Truepower test results.

How long it runs in a power cut depends on the battery you pair it with, not on the inverter. Rough rule: battery kWh × usable share ÷ load in kW. Example: a 48 V 100 Ah lithium battery stores about 4.8 kWh; with about 80% usable, a 600 W load (lights, fans, TV, fridge) runs for roughly 6 hours. In daytime the panels also feed the load, so the battery lasts longer. For lithium against lead-acid, see LiFePO4 vs lead-acid tubular.

How solar charging and backup work together

  1. Daytime: the panels run your home first and charge the battery with the spare power.
  2. Extra solar: where your electricity company (DISCOM) allows net metering, the surplus is sent to the grid for credit.
  3. Evening, cloud or night: the battery runs the home.
  4. Battery low: the grid takes over and can recharge the battery; a generator can be connected as another input.
  5. Power cut: Kivo keeps the home running from solar and battery, switching in about 10 milliseconds. A plain on-grid solar inverter has to shut down in a power cut (see On-grid solar inverter: what happens during a power cut).

Two AC outputs let you keep important loads on one side. Have the system installed by a registered solar vendor. More on how a hybrid system lowers your bill: Solar inverter for home: how a hybrid solar inverter cuts your electricity bill.

Summary

Kivo hybrid inverters run 3.6 kW to 12 kW of home load from solar, battery and grid, and keep running in a power cut. Pick the model by what runs at once, the battery by how long you need backup, and the panel array by your daily units. The inverter costs ₹73,000 to ₹2,78,000; panels, battery and installation are quoted by your solar vendor.
